JointSignal for iPhone

Email support@jointsignal.app and I will reply as soon as I can.

JointSignal is made by one person, so please allow a couple of days. If it is about your data or your privacy specifically, privacy@jointsignal.app reaches the same place and keeps those messages separate.

It helps if you can tell me what you were doing, what happened, and what you expected instead. Your iPhone model and iOS version are useful too — both are in Settings under General, then About.

Please do not send screenshots containing your health information unless they are necessary to explain the problem. I do not need your symptom data to fix a bug, and I would rather not hold it.

Things people ask

How do I get my data out?

Settings → Backup → Export a backup. That produces a single file containing everything you have recorded, which you can send wherever you like. There is also an automatic backup: one dated file a day to your own iCloud Drive, with the last thirty kept.

I deleted something by accident. Can I get it back?

Probably. Automatic backups are dated and are never overwritten, so yesterday's copy still contains what today lost. Settings → Backup → Restore from a backup. Restoring is refused if the app still holds recorded data, so you may need to delete and reinstall the app first — export a fresh backup before you do that.

Why can't I edit a day from three weeks ago?

Deliberately. Days can be filled in for a week afterwards; beyond that they become read-only. A pain score recalled from three weeks back is a guess, and a guess on a report your specialist reads is worse than a gap. Entries filled in after the day are marked as such on the report.

Apple Health isn't showing anything.

Check iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → JointSignal, and confirm the categories you want are switched on. Some measurements — walking asymmetry and stair speeds in particular — are produced by iOS only occasionally, and need the phone carried for a while before there is anything to show.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Through Apple, not through me: iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. I have no ability to cancel or refund on your behalf, and refunds are handled under Apple's terms.

Cancelling does not remove your record. You keep full access to read and export everything you entered.

Will it come to Android, or iPad?

Neither is planned. Much of what the app does depends on Apple Health, and it is built for one phone in one hand.

Something is wrong in the report I gave my specialist.

Please tell me straight away, with as much detail as you can — that is the most serious kind of bug this app can have, and it goes to the front of the queue.

If the app will not open

Your data is stored separately from the app itself, so it usually survives. Before deleting and reinstalling anything, check whether an automatic backup exists in the Files app under iCloud Drive → JointSignal → Backups. If one does, reinstalling and restoring from it will get you back.

Reporting a privacy or security concern

Email privacy@jointsignal.app. The app has no server and no account, so the surface for this is small, but if you have found something I want to know about it and I will say plainly what I have done.
